Yamada san wa midori no booshi o kaburi masu.

アナはあかいセーターをきます。(Ana wears a red sweater.)

Ana wa akai seetaa o ki masu.

エンリケはあおいシャツをきます。(Enrique wears a blue shirt.)

Enrique wa aoi shatsu o kimasu.

たなかさんはスーツをきます。(Tanaka san wears a suite.)

Tanaka san wa suutsu o ki masu.

おばあさんはきものをきます。(Grandma wears a kimono.)

Obaasan wa kimono o ki masu.

わたしはくろいくつをはきます。(I put on black shoes.)

Watashi wa kuroi kutsu o haki masu.

がっこうのこどもはしろいくつしたをはきます。(School children wear white socks.)

Gakko no kodomo tachi wa shiroi kutsu shita o haki masu.

おかあさんはスカートをはきます。(Mother wears a skirt.)

Okaasan wa sukaato o haki masu.

おとうさんはズボンをはきます。(Father wears trousers.)

Otoosan wa zubon o haki masu.

Lesson Point:

If the article you wear is on your head, you use the verb “kaburi masu かぶります”, which means to cover the head. If the article covers the upper torso or the overall body, use the verb “ki masu きます”. If the article is below the waist line – pants, skirt, shoes, and socks -, you use the verb “haki masuはきます”.
