Aim: How do I say colors of things?

We have covered “red gloves – akai tebukuro” in the previous chapter. Here we will learn more words to describe colors.

Ano aoi kuruma wa boku no kuruma desu.

このむらさきのはなは、いくらですか？(How much is this purple flower?)

Kono murarakino hana wa ikura desu ka?

きいろいバナナをください。(Please give me the yellow bananas.)

Kiiroi banana o kudasai.

わたしは、みどりのりんごをたべます。(I eat a green apple.)

Watashi wa midori no ringo o tabemasu.

いま、しんごうはあかです。(The traffic light is red now.)

Ima shingo wa aka desu.

ぼくのいぬは、ちゃいろです。(My dog is brown.)

Boku no inu wa chairo desu.

しろいねこが、あかいくるまのうえにいます。(There is a white cat on the red car.)

Shiroi neko ga akai kuruma no ue ni imasu.

あなたのめはなにいろですか？(What is your eye color?)

Anata no me wa nani iro desuka?

わたしのめはみどりです。(My eyes are green.)

Watashi no me wa midori desu.

Lesson Point:

As you see below, “aka – red” is a noun for red, and by putting “ i - い”, you can make it adjective. There are some exceptions, like midori (green) and murasaki (purple).
