In this lesson, we are going to talk about holidays. We are also going to revise the past simple and the past continuous tenses.

Form - Revision Past Simple Form

A. Place the verbs in brackets into the past simple.

4.- Focus on Pronunciation

It is important to remember that all past simple regular verbs end in –ed, for example: played, stayed, visited and watched.

We are now going to focus on the pronunciation of the –ed ending.

There are three different ways to pronounce the –ed ending.

 

A. Listen to your teacher pronounce the following verbs and decide which category they go in:

Passed / Married / Played / Helped / Loved
Permitted / Talked / Arrived

5.- Speaking Activity

You have heard your teacher talk about her last holiday to Paris. It’s now your turn to prepare a small presentation about your last holiday.

In order to get you thinking about it, answer the following questions.

  • When?
  • Where?
  • Who did you go with?
  • How long?
  • Weather?
  • What did you do?
  • Any funny/interesting stories?
  • What did you like?
  • What didn’t you like?

It is now your turn to give a short presentation about your last holiday. Include all of the information from the table. Remember to use the past simple and the past continuous. Good luck!
