Reading 29º: An Adventurous
Holiday

A dialogue between Steve
and Jane. Jane has just returned from her three week holiday in Canada.
Steve: Oh Jane, welcome back! How was
Canada?
Jane: It was amazing. I had such a
great time.
Steve: So tell me, what was it like?
Jane: It was like being in a different
world.
Steve: Where did you go?
Jane: The first week I spent in Toronto.
As you know Toronto is one of the largest cities in Canada. It is not
the capital but it is as big as one. Well, I went sightseeing - I went
up the CN Tower, I went to see a baseball match and of course, I went
shopping. The second week I spent travelling around Ontario. I went
to Niagara Falls….
Steve: You are so lucky! I have always
wanted to go there.
Jane: As I expected, it was the most
beautiful place I have ever visited. I stayed staring at the Falls for
about 4 hours. It was amazing because I saw some Japanese people sleeping
by the Falls; they told me that in Japan the Falls bring good luck.
Steve: That is crazy.
Jane: I know but everyone has their
own beliefs. Other people were collecting the water from the waterfall
and putting it in bottles to take home, because they believed the water
had the ability to heal people. Anyway the third week, I crossed the
boarder and went to the United States. There I visited my family in
Chicago. I had never seen them before as they moved to Chicago 20 years
ago.
Steve: What was Chicago like?
Jane: Really nice, but not as beautiful
as the parts of Canada I visited.
Steve: What an adventurous holiday!
Jane: I know. So tell me, did you go
anywhere?
Steve: No, unfortunately I had to stay
here and work. Maybe next year I will go on an adventurous holiday.
Jane: Aahhh…. Hey Steve, I wouldn't
worry if I were you, I have bought you a present.
Steve: What is it?
Jane: A map of Paris.
Steve: Why?
Jane: Because you and I are going next
week. I have booked you a holiday!
